Allan Hall: Local Pharmacist & Community Leader Dies at 75

William Allan Hall (75), better known to friends as "Allan", passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Allan was born in Merced, California but later moved to Fresno where he was a graduate of Fresno High School. He attended Fresno City College, Fresno State and graduated from the Oregon State School of Pharmacy.

Returning to the valley he settled in Madera where he has served the community professionally as a respected Pharmacist and community leader for 52 years. Beginning his career at the former Calaway's Drug Store on Yosemite Avenue, he later ventured out on his own with the establishment of Hall's Drugstore. After fifteen wonderful years he sold the business to Savemart in Madera where he continued to work in their pharmacy until recently.

Allan was a very compassionate person and was drawn to being a pharmacist by his love for both science and community. Pharmacy gave him the opportunity to be close to people and live his passion every day. In his spare time Allan was an avid fisherman and loved to travel. He cherished the time that he spent in the mountains, on the ocean and traveling abroad with friends. The relationships that he developed here in Madera were one of the great joys of his life.

Allan believed in giving back to the community and that was evident in his involvement in the Sunrise Rotary of Madera, (a Paul Harris Fellow of the organization). He was a former member of the Breakfast Lions Club of Madera. An Eagle Scout, he was always committed to the Boys Scouts of America Programs. He was involved in the CASA Program (Court Appointed Special Advocates) concerned for the welfare of children. He assisted Nancy Hinds in the operation of Hinds Hospice as a Board Member for 23 years. He enjoyed an involvement with the Fossil Discovery Center of Madera.

Allan is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Sharon, having celebrated their anniversary on August 27. He is the beloved father of Tiffanie Lovely of Madera, Bryan Hall and wife Suzanne of San Diego, Ca. He is the brother of Jim Hall of Susanville, Ca, and Tricia Vargas and her husband Pete of Prescott, Az. He is the grandfather of Courtney Lovely, Kelsey Lovely, Moira Hall, Nora Hall and Brogan Hall.

Allan's Family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Physicians and Staff of St. Agnes Medical Center for the exceptional and compassionate care that Allan received during his 3 month stay at St. Agnes. A special thank you to the Cardiovascular ICU, 3rd floor.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 3 to 7 PM at Jay Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11 AM also at Jay Chapel. Private interment will be at Arbor Vitae Cemetery.

Remembrances in Allan's memory suggested be given to Hinds Hospice, 2490 W. Shaw Avenue, Suite 101, Fresno, Ca. 93711. to the Fossil Discovery Center of Madera County, 19450 Avenue 21 ½, Chowchilla, CA. 93610 or To Saint Agnes Hospital Foundation, 1303 E. Herndon Avenue, Fresno, Ca. 93710.
