Georgia F. Baker (95)

Georgia F. Baker (95) was born on March 30, 1916 to James and Susan Herd in Ozark County, MO, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2011 in Madera, CA at the age of 95. Georgia moved to Madera in 1938 where she met and married her sweetheart Aubrey Baker, a marriage lasting 55 years until his passing in 2001.

She was a very active member of the Madera Trinity Episcopal Church and in various community organizations. Georgia was on the board of Madera Community Hospital for 33 years and also served on the Madera County Fair board. Georgia was highly active in the Democratic Party, she served on different state committees she helped organizing candidates' campaigns and even road the train with John Kennedy during his run for the presidency. In 1991 Georgia was honored by the state of California as the woman of the year.

Georgia was preceded in death by her husband Aubrey Baker in 2001 and six siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Claudia Steinauer of Madera, her sister, Mable Russell of Chula Vista, CA, and three grandchildren, Robert K. Steinauer, David B. Steinauer and Mary J. Baldrica. She also leaves behind 7 great grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Jay Chapel Madera, CA Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, 1:00 PM at Jay Chapel, Madera, CA Interment will follow at Arbor Vitae Cemetery, Madera, CA
