James L. Cappelluti (74)

James L. Cappelluti (74), passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday August 22, 2014 at Hinds Hospice in Fresno, Ca. after a short battle with cancer. Jim was born on October 17, 1939 at Dearborn Hospital to Leo and Dolly Cappelluti. His family lived in Madera for many years and were active in the community and with many service organizations.

Jim Graduated from Madera High School in 1957 and was both a percussionist and drum major of the Madera High School Marching Band. After graduation, enlisted in the Army National Guard and attended classes at Fresno City College before embarking on an impressive 40 + year career as a salesman with both Scott Paper and Central Sanitary Supply, where he was respected as a mentor to the new sales representatives.


He was active in the local chapter of the Y.M.I and had recently rekindled his passion for his faith. Jim's love of cars was legendary and he spent countless hours restoring classic cars. He was well known for his candor and was always willing to lend a piece of loving advice to his friends and family.

Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Royann, as well as his mother and father, Leo and Dolly Cappelluti, and his in-laws, Roy and Grace Sordi.

He is survived by his second wife Susan Venturi-Cappelluti; his brother Rodney Cappelluti, his sons Bret Cappelluti and Jeff Cappelluti; his daughter-in-law Stephanie Cappelluti; his grandchildren Isabella and Christopher Cappelluti; his step children Andrea Clarke and her husband Brad, Peter and Patrick Venturi; and step grandchildren Mikaila, Peter, Cade and Lexia Venturi, and Nicco Clarke.

Vigil Service will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 7:00 pm at Jay Chapel 1121 Roberts Ave, Madera. Funeral Mass will commence at 11:00 am on Friday August 29, 2014 at St. Joachim's Church in Madera with Interment services following at Calvary Cemetery in Madera.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jim's memory to Hinds Hospice Inc., 2490 West Shaw Avenue, Fresno, CA 93711 or St. Joachim's Church Building Fund, 401 West 5th Street, Madera, Ca. 93637
