Gary graduated from La Salle High School in St. Ignace, where he first discovered his passion for education and sports. He went on to have an illustrious career as a high school teacher, middle school counselor, and elementary school principal, impacting countless lives in Niles, Michigan, and Madera, California. Beyond the classroom, Gary was a devoted coach, guiding young athletes in his hometown and the schools where he worked, leaving an indelible mark on the sports programs he cherished.

On August 22, 1964, Gary married the love of his life, Carol Ann Evans, in Bellevue, Michigan. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and the shared joy of raising their two children, Peter and Angela, fostering a home where the love of sports was as strong as the love for each other. Though Carol preceded him in death, Gary's heart found solace in the fond memories of their life together. 

Gary's legacy lives on through his surviving family: his wife, Roberta Adams; his son, Pete Adams, and his wife, Diana; his daughter, Angela Garcia, and her husband, Gerardo; his seven grandchildren, David Garcia, Emily Gonzales, Seth Garcia, Ryan Garcia, Leia Garcia, Willow Garcia, Tyler Adams, and Kaylie Adams; and his five cherished great-grandchildren. He was a pillar of strength and wisdom to his family, always ready with a quick-witted comeback or a captivating story, a testament to his warm and engaging personality.

An active member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Madera, Gary's faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He was also a dedicated member of the Madera Breakfast Lions and served passionately as a referee and umpire for CIF and NCAA High School and College Basketball and Baseball programs, bringing his love for sports into every aspect of his life.

A loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions, Gary found joy in the thrill of the game, sharing his enthusiasm with friends and family. His presence at games, whether on the field or in the stands, was a reminder of his enduring passion for sports and community.

Gary's kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones and community will be deeply missed. As we gather to celebrate his life, we remember a man who lived fully, loved generously, and left a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

In honoring Gary's memory, we are reminded of the profound impact one life can have and the enduring love that binds us all. Rest in peace, dear Gary. Your light will forever shine in our hearts.
