Brent Alan Huntsman (62), a native of Madera, California, passed away on Wednesday, Jan 7, 2026, at St. Agnes Medical Center from a sudden illness. Brent was born to Terry Huntsman and Marsha Rau Huntsman at the former Dearborn Hospital in Madera.
Brent lived across the country, spending time in Oregon, Idaho, Georgia, and New Hampshire before returning to Madera in 1976, attending Howard Elementary School, Thomas Jefferson Junior High School, and graduating from Madera High School in 1982. He went on to attend Fresno City College and later graduated from Fresno Pacific University, earning his Teaching Credential. Brent was a long time substitute Teacher for The Madera Unified School District.
Growing up in the Community of Madera, where his family owned and operated the former Madera Lumber and Hardware Store on Gateway Blvd., he learned the value of hard work. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America at the Madera United Methodist Church Troop.
At Madera High School, he was on the Golf Team and played Water Polo. He has been a member of the Grace Community Church in Madera for many years, and in his leisure time enjoys spending time at the family cabin at Fish Camp and reading the Holy Bible, the cornerstone of his life.
Brent was preceded in death by his father, Terry Huntsman; his grandparents, Elmer and Eleanor Rau; Art and Nina Huntsman; and his uncle, Tom Huntsman.
He is survived by his mother, Marsha Huntsman, and his sister, Shelley Huntsman, both of Fresno. He is the nephew of Dr. Roger Rau and his wife, JoAnn; Steve Rau and his wife, Janice; Jim Huntsman and his wife, Becky; and many cousins.
A memorial service in remembrance of Brent will be on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11 AM at Grace Community Church in Madera.
Private interment will be at Arbor Vitae Cemetery in Madera
