Geneva Leach (92)

Geneva Leach (92) returned to her Heavenly home on December 13, 2017 after a long and blessed life. Her devotion to her family and her strong belief in God supported her throughout her life and gave her peace.

Geneva was born to the late Ezekiel “Zeke” and Mary “Florence” Bounds on November 20, 1925 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. She moved from Perkins, OK to Madera, CA when she was 15 years old. She attended church one Sunday morning and found the love of her life and best friend, Gerald Leach. She married him on February 18, 1946 when he had a few days of leave from the United States Navy. They were married for over 60 years until his death in 2006.

Geneva was blessed with a large and loving family. Geneva and Gerald raised three children. They also helped raise their six grandchildren. In addition to these grandchildren they have 12 great grandchildren. The Leach’s were involved with, loved and prayed for their family way before their existence and never missed a chance to teach them about God’s love.

Geneva’s life was built around family and church. She served her church by teaching many bible studies, Sunday school, Missionettes, and was a board member of the Women’s Missionary Council and served at Valley West Christian Center throughout her life. Geneva was a good and faithful steward and she shared her love of God with everyone she met. Geneva was the best pie, cake, chocolate gravy and biscuit maker in the entire family. She loved to cook and bless her family and friends with her skills. The family would get together for a lesson and a shared secret that would often spark contests complete with ribbons for the winners.

Her two sisters, Willa Ramsey and Mable Sloan and her three brothers, Paul, Bert and Dale Bounds, preceded her in death.

Geneva is survived by her son, Roger and his wife, Dixie Leach, daughter, Yvette and her husband Mike McKeever and daughter Lynnette and her husband Brian Jacobsen. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lance and Barbara Leach, Nick and Cerisa Leach, Larry and Karisa Bibayoff, Seth and Becky McKeever, Brilyn Jacobsen and Brennen Jacobsen. Great grandchildren, Jackson Leach, Olivia Leach, Penelopi Leach, Avery Leach, Maple Leach, Isabella Bibayoff, Isaac Bibayoff, Joshua McKeever, Abigail McKeever, Noah McKeever, Chloe Lapin and Jacob Lapin. In addition to her immediate family, she was loved and will be missed by many close family friends, nurses, caregivers and her beloved dog, Skippy.

The Graveside Service at Arbor Vitae Cemetery will be held on: Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at Valley West Christian Center, Madera, CA.
