Jury Convicts Sacramento Man of Fraud in Connection with Arson Scheme

SACRAMENTO  -   After a four-day trial, a federal jury found Brian J. Stone, 59, of Sacramento, guilty today of 13 counts of wire and mail fraud, U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced. According to evidence presented at trial, Stone devised a plan to get fire insurance money from State Farm based on false statements about who had performed cleanup work after a fire at 2764 Fulton Avenue in Sacramento in June 2013.

In late 2012, co-defendant Jamal Shehadeh had rented space at that location in the name of a supposed auto parts supply business. Stone, a disbarred attorney, had been helping Shehadeh unsuccessfully fight an eviction action during the months prior to the fire. On the night the eviction took effect, the fire occurred at 2764 Fulton, and the supposed auto parts business later filed an insurance claim with State Farm.

Detectives Search for Burglar who Stole Vehicle and Guns from Clovis Home

CLOVIS - Property crimes detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office are searching for the person(s) responsible for a burglary at a home located in Monte Verdi Estates.  A homeowner came home around midnight on Thursday and found their Mercedes SUV was gone and items misplaced in the garage.

Out of concern for their safety, they did not enter the house and quickly called the Sheriff’s Office.  Deputies responded to the gated community near Friant Road and Willow Ave. in Clovis.  They searched inside the home and did not find anyone.  They did discover that along with the SUV, a large John Deere safe containing several guns (mostly rifles) was taken.

Who is Shooting at Madera County’s Elected Officials? Or is This Just Election Year BS?

MADERA COUNTY – Has someone placed targets on the heads of Madera County elected officials? On March 17th Madera County District Attorney David Linn reported his vehicle being struck by a bullet or a metal object that smashed his window cutting his face just hours after turning over documents to the California Attorney General on the criminal investigation against the Board of Supervisors. Now Madera County Supervisor David Rogers is claiming someone fired six gun shots at his home near Avenue 24 and Road 16 just outside the Chowchilla city limits.

Saturday night a little after 9pm Supervisor David Rogers claims he and his wife were watching television when they heard several gunshots in rapid-fire succession. Rogers told a reporter from the GVWIRE.COM website, “My wife turned off the TV then hit the floor. I immediately went to my gun for protection.”
