MADERA - On Monday, November 11th, Madera Police responded to a deceased person in the Fresno River-bed near the area of Cleveland Avenue and Raymond Road. The Madera County Coroner has identified the deceased male as 38-year-old Lasaro Macedo.

An autopsy was conducted and ruled that Macedo died as a result of injuries he sustained during a dog attack. Macedo was observed to have obvious bite marks to his legs, arms, and face, police said.

At the time the police responded, an extremely aggressive dog charged officers. In self-defense the officers had to shoot the dog, killing it. Officers say the dog suspected of fatally injuring the victim was the only threatening one at the scene. There was a second dog impounded at the scene that was believed to be involved in the attack.

Initially, police attempted to locate the owner of the dogs, who has been identified as Heather Anglin, without success. Anglin is a homeless woman who lives in a tent near the location the descendant was found. She has also bred several litters of Pit Bulls in the area, according to her Facebook page. She left the area and was believed to be in Fresno or Merced County with her boyfriend, Aaron Daniels. Since this story was first published, Anglin has cooperated with police in their investigation.
