Sheriff Asking Publics to Help in Search for Missing Fresno Man

FRESNO -  Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies and volunteers with the Fresno County Search and Rescue (SAR) Team continue to search the wilderness for 65-year-old Hans Lamaack. He was last seen in the City of Fresno on August 30, 2019.

The Sheriff’s Office was made aware that he was missing on September 24th. On the 24th, deputies found Lamaack’s car, a 2001 Volvo. It was parked near Garnet Dike Campground, which is located along the upper Kings River near Balch Camp.

Since that time, our office has utilized search dogs, personnel in the air, on the ground, in the waters of Pine Flat Lake and the Upper Kings, but have not found any sign of Lamaack,. Search efforts will continue and there is no projected date of when a search will be called off.

At the end of August, family members reported Lamaack missing to the Fresno Police Department. No leads were generated until the weekend of September 20-21. On those dates, a bicyclist riding in a remote area of Trimmer Springs Road saw a Volvo parked with no one around.

The cyclist thought it seemed out of place and took down the license plate number. He later reported it to law enforcement. Fresno Police discovered it matched a vehicle in its missing person case. Fresno Police then asked the Sheriff’s Office to check the area for the car, which deputies later found. Detectives have spoken with family members and no foul play is suspected at this time.

Lamaack is described as being 6’1”, 165 lbs. with brown eyes and gray hair

The Sheriff’s Office hopes the public can help put search teams on a better track to find Lamaack. There is a strong chance he arrived to the area near the Kings River on Labor Day weekend (August 31 – September 2). FCSO would like to hear from anyone who may have seen Lamaack or his car prior to September 20th. Please call (559) 600-3111.
