FRESNO - Northeast District Officer Arthur Deleon from the Fresno Police Department responded to the 3300 block of N. Maple Ave were the victim reported 51 year-old Floyd Dachawn King of Fresno brandished a firearm in a rude and threatening manner.
During the incident, King charged his weapon several times causing live .45 caliber bullets to eject from the firearm and fall to the ground. Officer Deleon learned through his investigation King was on parole with a GPS monitor. Deleon contacted King’s parole agent who confirmed the ankle monitor was active and indicated he was at his residence.
Deleon requested assistance. The Southeast Special Response Team responded and developed a plan to locate and arrest King for being a felon in possession of a firearm and exhibiting a firearm in a rude, angry or threatening manner in the presence of another.
SRT Officers located King at his residence. King surrendered immediately and admitted to the alleged crime. However, King said the weapon he used was not real. King’s cousin, 50 year-old Robert Odom of Fresno, was also contacted and arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
SRT conducted a parole compliance check of the apartment and located a loaded Hi-Point 45 semi-automatic handgun. The bullets in the gun matched the bullet recovered from the crime scene. King was previously convicted of a felony, therefore, he was prohibited from possessing a firearm.
King was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm and exhibiting a firearm in a threatening manner. Please see the attached photograph of the firearm and of suspect Floyd King.
The Fresno Police Department would like to remind the public that Crime Stoppers has enhanced the rewards for information related to gang members who are involved in narcotics sales, firearm possession, and human trafficking.
The new campaign consists of the following monetary rewards for anonymous tips. If a gang member is arrested for possessing a handgun, the reward is $2,000. If a gang member is arrested for possessing an assault rifle, the reward is $3,000. If a gang member is arrested for human trafficking, the reward is $3,000 and if a gang member is involved in drug sales, the reward is $1,000.
