MADERA - Early Wednesday night officers from the Madera Police Department were dispatched to the area of Kennedy & Ellis  in regards to a shooting.  A witness had called Police dispatch and reported that occupants of a vehicle had shot at occupants of another vehicle at this intersection.

Upon officers arrival they located the victims in a vehicle that had run off the road a short distance from this intersection.  One victim was transported to Madera Community Hospital and the other was transported to Regional Medical Center in Fresno. 

One victim was later declared deceased at Madera Community Hospital. The other victim is listed in serious condition. The name of the deceased victim is not being released until notification is made to family.

A small compact type vehicle possibly black in color was seen fleeing the area with at least two male occupants. Anyone having information is urged to call Detective Foss at 675-4246 or Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.
