Fresno County Deputies Capture Evasive Wanted Parolee

FRESNO - The Fresno County Sheriff’s SWAT team took 25 year old Joshua Servis of Fresno into custody Thursday afternoon. He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, evading police and a parole violation.

Just after 9:30 pm on March 5th, deputies spotted Joshua Servis in a vehicle as it was pulling into a gas station at the corner of Olive and Marks Avenues in Fresno. As deputies attempted to stop him, Servis intentionally swerved his car into a patrol vehicle, causing minor damage. Servis headed east on Olive Ave. to try and get away.

Assisting deputies pursued him and once Servis slowed down near the intersection of Floradora and Pleasant Avenues, a deputy used a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver on Servis’ car. The suspect’s car hit a tree and became disabled. Servis ran away and deputies searched for him, but were unable to find him.

At 1:30 am on March 7th, the Sheriff’s Office received a report that a man had been stabbed and Joshua Servis was mentioned as the person responsible for doing it. Deputies responded to the 2100 block of N. Valentine Avenue. Those first on scene helped the man get transported to the hospital, while assisting deputies searched the area for Servis who was said to have run away. After two hours of looking, deputies were unable to find him.

Later in the morning, deputies were given a tip that Servis was in a travel trailer located on the 3200 block of W. Dennett Ave. Deputies, along with members of Fresno HEAT (Help Eliminate Auto Theft) task force and the U.S. Marshals Service surrounded the trailer and called out for Servis to surrender. However, he ignored their commands. Due to the danger Servis presented, the sheriff’s SWAT team responded to the scene. After SWAT members broke a window to try and contact Servis, he came out of the trailer with his hands up and surrendered. Deputies arrested Servis without any problem.

Anyone with additional information about Joshua Servis is asked to contact Detective Gary Haslam at (559) 600-8209, Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867 or www.valleycrimestoppers.org You will remain anonymous and may receive a cash reward.
