Suspect In Custody for the Murder of Former Tulare Mayor's Cousin: Dynasty Alexander (18)

TULARE - Detectives with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office arrested 52-year-old Dale William Watson of Porterville Tuesday for the murder of eighteen year old Dynasty Alexander. Dynasty’s body was discovered in an orchard near the Elk Bayou Park on the 19700 Block of Hosfield Drive in Tulare. At the location, officers found the body of a female and determined it was county jurisdiction.

The victim had visible signs of strangulation and trauma to the upper torso when her body was found near a Tulare orchard on 3/3/19. Upon completion of the autopsy, the official cause of death was determined to be a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. The investigation is being treated as a homicide. The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Detectives were then called to the scene and took over the investigation.

Over the last 48 hours, investigators have followed up on numerous leads and obtained evidence, including video surveillance of Watson offering the victim a ride. He was under constant surveillance for 12 hours prior to his arrest and was taken into custody during a traffic stop in Porterville.

Watson has been charged by the Tulare County District Attorney's office with first-degree murder with the special allegation of intentional discharge of a firearm causing death, as well as committing the offense while on felony probation. Watson is scheduled to be arraigned at the county pre-trial facility this afternoon where a future court date will be set. Watson faces life in prison if convicted on all charges.

Dynasty was described as a troubled youth trying to turn her life around. She was the cousin of former Tulare Mayor Carton Jones, who is dealing with his fair share of trouble over the last year with the city of Tulare and the Central Valley AG community.

This case is still an active investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit Det. Brandon VanCuren or Sergeant Gary Marks at (559) 802-9563 or (800) 808-0488.
