Missing Person “At-Risk” Mother Who Left Her 4 Month Old Child Unattended Found: Child Endangerment Charges Pending

MADERA – A Madera woman who was reported missing under suspicious circumstances on Valentine’s Day was found the next day. Yesinia Toledo (29) was last seen at her home on North Lake Street. in the County of Madera. Yesinia was described by the Madera County Sheriff’s officials as “at risk”.

After receiving information regarding her whereabouts, the five foot tall, 140lbs Hispanic female with no tattoos was found alive and well on February 15th at approximately 11:30 pm at a residence in the 1300 block of Concord Avenue in the city of Madera. Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, it does not appear that Toledo was kidnapped nor held against her will, but voluntarily left her 4 month old child unattended.

Detectives served a search warrant at Toledo and her boyfriend’s (Jamie Garcia) residence on Lake Street.  Her twenty-seven-year-old boyfriend, who was the original reporting party, was arrested and booked at the Madera County Department of Corrections on charges of possession of a stolen handgun and felon in possession of a firearm.

According to Jamie Garcia’s account, he left the residence with one of their children for a brief period of time. When he returned, he discovered their 4 month old alone in the home, with Yesenia unable to be located. Her method of transportation is unknown since her vehicle remains at the residence, and it does not appear as though she took any clothing or personal items with her.

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office dedicated significant time and resources investigating Toledo‘s disappearance and locating her safely. Sheriff Varney stated, “It’s unfortunate that neither involved party was forthcoming with accurate information in this case. Despite these roadblocks, our investigators did an outstanding job tracking down the truth.”

With this new information, child endangerment charges are being requested against Toledo.
