Parlier Man Fatally Stabbed During Family Dispute

PARLIER - Around 11:00 pm Sunday, Parlier Police responded to a home on the 800 block of Stanislaus Street in Parlier for a report of a domestic dispute. Officers arrived and were unable to find the man, 21 year old Anthony Gonzalez, who was reportedly causing problems. Officers took a report from Gonzalez’ wife, which included a request for an emergency protective order against Gonzalez.

Shortly after 5:00 am Monday, Parlier Police were called back to the same home. The caller reported Anthony Gonzalez had returned and had broken into the home. He got into an argument with his wife and her parents. As the argument escalated, Gonzalez armed himself with a knife. A struggle took place as the family members tried to get the knife away from Gonzalez. While doing so, he stabbed his wife, his mother-in-law and then went after his father-in-law.

As the struggle continued, Gonzalez received a stab wound. Officers and medics arrived and arranged to transport Gonzalez to the hospital, where he later passed away. The two women received medical treatment and are expected to be ok. The man received minor injuries and did not require medical attention.

Parlier Police requested sheriff’s homicide detectives respond to the scene to take over the investigation. They arrived along with members of the Crime Scene Unit to collect evidence and interview witnesses.

Detectives learned Gonzalez’ lived at the home with his wife and her parents. At the time of the dispute, there were five young children inside the home. All slept through the incident. Only one of the children belong to Gonzalez and his wife.

Detectives have interviewed all of the adults who were home during the dispute. No arrests have been made. The emergency protective order was never served to Gonzalez because officers never made personal contact with him following the initial request. This remains an ongoing investigation.

Anyone with additional information about this case is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (559) 600-3111, Detective Carl Chalmers (559) 600-8207.
