One Suspect Arrested One Outstanding in Jewelry Store Robbery

FRESNO - On January 8, 2018, at approximately 11:00 am, the owner of the El Oscar Jewelry Repair Shop at 2208 North Blackstone Avenue electronically opened the door to his business allowing two African American males wearing dark hoodies inside. They began looking at merchandise as if they were going to make a purchase.

The owner looked back down at a project he was working on as the subjects continued looking at the display cases with jewelry.  The victim looked up again and saw one of the suspects was pointing a semi-automatic handgun at his head.

The suspect with the gun demanded that the owner get on the floor, and when he complied, the suspect with the gun struck him on the back of the head repeatedly.  The suspect led the victim for a short distance through the store with the gun pointed at the owners head.

In the video surveillance tape you can see the suspects going through display cases and removing watches and jewelry.  The victim estimates it was approximately $10.000.00 of property.

The Street Violence Bureau Robbery Team of the Fresno Police Department received the case and began by reviewing video evidence of the robbery.  The investigation revealed the identity of the suspect who was carrying the handgun and fought with the owner.  The SVB TAC team was assigned the task of locating the suspect.  An exhaustive search for this suspect resulted in his arrest on January 29, 2018. He was booked at FCJH.

A search warrant written for the location he was found in netted a semi-auto handgun that is similar to the one pictured in the robbery video.   The investigation is ongoing at this time and there is one suspect still outstanding in this case.

Anyone who knows the identities of the suspects or has additional information on this case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867. You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
