John Anderson (80) of Madera, California, passed away on April 20, 2026. He was born on January 3, 1946, in Hammond, Indiana, and lived a life marked by love, integrity, intelligence, and kindness.

He was born to the union of Charles Eugene Anderson and Alice Gardner Anderson, both of whom preceded him in death. John was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Lynn Anderson, whom he married on May 5, 1979. Their marriage was a lasting partnership built on devotion, respect, and shared joy, and together they welcomed one daughter, Sheri (Anderson) Brown.

John is survived by his daughter, Sheri Brown, and son-in-law, Randy Brown, of Madera. He is also survived by his brother, Charles “Chuck” Anderson, and wife, Roseanne Anderson, of Chico, California. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Megan Cook and husband Ryan Cook, and Craig Brown and wife Kelsie Brown, as well as his great-grandchildren, Elliott and Maya Cook, and Maddison, Ava, and Harper Brown. He was deeply proud of his family and found great happiness in their accomplishments, gatherings, and everyday moments together.

John was a graduate of Riverdale High School and later attended USF on a basketball scholarship for two years. He later continued his education at San Francisco State, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, and he completed his academic journey by receiving his master’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His dedication to education reflected the discipline and determination that guided him throughout his life.

John devoted 50 years of his career to Seabury, Copland & Anderson Insurance Agency, where he served as an insurance agent. He was respected not only for his professional knowledge and reliability but also for the trust and friendship he built with those around him. Over the years, he was active in many organizations, including the Lions Club, the Elks Lodge, and numerous insurance-related groups, where he valued fellowship, service, and connection with others.

A Christian by faith, John lived with a quiet strength and a generous spirit. He enjoyed life’s simple and meaningful pleasures, especially golfing, sailing, reading, and listening to music. One of his favorite pastimes was sailing his own boat, the Kajin Queen, a name that reflected both his love of the water and his appreciation for adventure. Whether he was spending time with family, enjoying a favorite book, or sharing a conversation with friends, John brought warmth and sincerity to every moment.

Those who knew John will remember him as a loving, kind, and intelligent man who cared deeply for his family and community. His presence was steady and reassuring, and his life was a testament to hard work, faith, and devotion to the people he loved. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
